What we don’t recycle
Although The Recyclers would like to recycle all recyclable products there are some technical issues in South Africa that puts constraints on certain recyclable products.
Here then a list of what The Recyclers don’t recycle or products that are not currently recyclable in
South Africa:
- Plastic food packaging containers (ex. fruit, sandwich and cake containers)
- Although it states recyclable, there are technical issues in SA with recycling this type of containers.
- Polystyrene food packaging containers
- Any food contaminated containers or products
- Food Wrappers
- Any plastics containing foil (ex. Chips and chocolate wrappers, detergent plastics, dog food plastics)
- Paint tins
- Syringes
- Used tissue or toilet paper
- Window glass or Windscreen glass
- Light bulbs (Please recycle at your nearest Pick a Pay)
- Hardware tubes, lubricants or adhesives
- Rubber, sponge and inflatable devices
- Garden refuse
- Wood and building material
- No wet waste
- Fibre glass
- Nappies
- Straws
